When the public has an opportunity to comment on government policy, or changes to State and Federal legislation, we make submissions on matters that could affect Westernport Bay.
In the past year we’ve commented on the revision of the Western Port Ramsar Site Management Plan, and on preparations for the EES assessment of the Victorian Renewable Energy Terminal proposed in the Port of Hastings. SWP has made several submissions on changes to the Commonwealth Environmental Protection Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act. Westernport is a Ramsar wetland of international significance, and provides habitat for species of endangered flora and fauna, so decisions about Westernport will be affected by any changes to the Act.
