The battle for public support for Western Port is heating up as AGL and Save Westernport paraded their respective claims in big billboards at a recent meeting in Hastings.
AGL and APA—who plan to develop a gas importation plant at Crib Point and a new gas pipeline to Pakenham—held an “EES Community Drop-In Information Session” at Hastings Hall on Tuesday 11 December 2018.
The purpose of the session appeared to be another attempt by AGL to convince the Western Port public that their planned development will not harm the Western Port environment.
Local activists from the Save Westernport group are not convinced and formed a colourful gathering outside the hall, with large banners, a mobile sign on a trailer and the Big Green Chair.
Jack Krohn, a senior officer from DELWP (the Department of Environment, Land, Water & Planning), also attended the session to answer questions from the public.
