What a Summer it was!

The Save Westernport team were all over the Mornington Peninsula to raise awareness of AGL’s plans to import gas into Westernport Bay.

From Shoreham to St Kilda, our team of volunteers has been spreading the word and generating interest in protecting our beautiful part of Victoria.

Here is a rundown of our activities over the past few months:

  • Peninsula’s Biggest Paddle Out 6 Jan 2019 – a brilliant day at Shoreham Beach with hundreds of people on the water to oppose AGL’s gas import plans.
  • ?
  • Peninsula Film Festival 1 Feb 2019 – our volunteers attended the AGL-sponsored film festival at Rosebud.
  • World Wetlands Day 2 Feb 2019 – a twilight cruise around Westernport Bay to celebrate and learn more about our unique marine environment.
  • Musiqua music festival 3 Feb 2019 – our volunteers attended the AGL-sponsored music event at Hastings Foreshore.
  • Sustainable Living Festival 8 – 10 Feb 2019 – we attended the Environment Victoria marquee and delivered a presentation on AGL’s plans in Westernport.
  • “The Bentley Effect” 22 Feb 2019 – a fundraiser night hosted by WPPC with the screening of this inspiring movie about NSW communities fighting local gas fracking.
  • Westernport Festival Parade 23 Feb 2019 – two giant Eastern Curlews entertained the crowds. We won Most Creative Float! Many thanks to Ian Cuming and his volunteer team.
  • Westernport 50th Festival 22 – 24 Feb 2019 – our marquee offered information on AGL’s plans for Westernport Bay.
